From Sound to Color

Tim Bavington was searching for a way to translate his love of music to painting. He found his answer when he stumbled upon a color-coded chord wheel. Each musical chord correlated directly to a color, which in turn inspired Bavington to create his own wheel for his work.

Width, size and color all play a significant role to Bavington’s pieces. As important as music is to dictating which color will end up on his canvas, geometry is an essential part of what makes Bavington’s work compelling and come alive.

From his studio in downtown Las Vegas, Bavington has reimagined music into beautiful shapes. Watch the film above to see him compose a masterpiece.
